Frankincense (Old High German Wihrouch = holy incense), is a member of the balsam tree family (Burseraceae). The different types of frankincense trees, between 1.5 and 8 meters high, grow wild in the arid regions of Ethiopia, Yemen, Somalia, Oman and India.
